The 2009 Barbaresco is absolutely remarkable for the way it carersses the palate with endless layers of sweet red fruit

This should age effortlessly and I would expect the minerality to develop even more with age

Raul Perez, Bierzo Penitencia Size:6x750ml This too is firmly reducedGrown within the DO zone of Ribeira Sacra, not far from Bierzo, but bottled without reference to the DO, this wine is a blend of mostly Menca with Caio and Bastardo, aged in used 500l French barrels It's completely different to Perez's El Rapolao, showing lovely cassis and floral aromas with an intense, finely grained structure in the mouth. It has a restraint on the finish which gives the tension that's sometimes referred to as minerality.
